The Pikey Peak Trek is a short yet incredibly rewarding Himalayan adventure that offers some of the best panoramic views in Nepal, including stunning vistas of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks.
Starting with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhap, the journey takes trekkers through traditional villages, lush forests, and peaceful landscapes in the lower Everest region. The trail gradually ascends through settlements like Jhapre and Lhamuje, allowing proper acclimatization while offering beautiful views of rolling hills and distant snow-capped peaks.
The highlight of the trek is reaching Pikey Peak (4065m), a viewpoint famous for its spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas. From the summit, trekkers can witness a breathtaking panorama that includes Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, and other majestic mountains. The experience is often described as one of the finest viewpoints in Nepal.
Along the way, trekkers also explore rich cultural sites such as Thupten Chholing Monastery, gaining insight into the traditions and lifestyle of the local Sherpa and Rai communities. The trek concludes with a descent to Phaplu and a drive back to Kathmandu.
This trek combines natural beauty, cultural immersion, and moderate adventure, making it ideal for beginners and those with limited time. It’s not just a trek to a viewpoint—it’s a peaceful journey through one of Nepal’s most scenic and less crowded Himalayan regions.
