Annapurna Circuit Trek

A rewarding trek, providing the opportunity to explore the scenery of both the northern and southern Himalaya. From thick fir and rhododendron forests to the harsh, thin atmosphere of the Tibetan plateau the ethnic groups encountered, lowland Hindu and highland Buddhist, are as varied as the landscape. From the dizzying heights of the Thorung Pass (5416m) line upon line of snow ridges stretch before you whilst below lies the sub-tropical Kali Gandaki Gorge a busy pilgrimage and trade route controlled by Thakali and Mustang tribes.

The Annapurna Circuit is one of the most popular treks in Nepal, highly praised as a spectacular trekking route since it opened to foreign trekkers in 1977.

This magnificent trek leads you through villages inhabited by a wide diversity of ethnic groups including Gurung, Manangi and Thakali. offering spectacular and majestic views of the Himalayas. As it continues to the north of the main Himalayan range on to the high and dry Tibetan Plateau, the scenery is equally breathtaking.

The highest point of the trek is crossing the 5414m high Thorong-La Pass from the arid valley of the upper Manang, home of Tibetan Buddhists, down to the Hindu pilgrimage site of Muktinath and the Kali Gandaki valley, the world’s deepest river gorge, before heading down to Pokhara.
